Christmas Time

Christmas time is one of my favorite times of the year.  I get in the holiday spirit.  I get a chance to go back home and visit with my family.  My mother and I talk on the phone every day, but it is nothing like being home visiting with her.  We get to sit down and talk about old times and laugh.  I get to see my daughtet who lives back home and her two kids.  I also get to get away from work and relax.  We exchange gifts and have a good time.  I go around and visit other family members and friends.  Almost all of my siblings are home for Christmas and we play games and listen to Christmas songs.  I attend church and it really makes me feel good.  The only thing I don't like is having to come back to work.  I look forward to this every year.  I always look forward to the new year.  I start my resolutions that I don't keep.  This year I plan on making good on my resolution one step at a time.  I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Death of a Friend

The death of a friend can be very hurtful.  My friend had breast cancer and she started treatments.  She lives in my home town in Louisiana.  She has three boys.  One of her boys is six years old.  The other two are grown.  When I went back home to visit I would see her and we would talk.  She told me that she was taking chemo and it was helping her cancer.  She said, everytime she takes chemo it would take a lot out of her and just as she was getting back to normal it would be time to take another chemo.  My friend had a strong will.  She was a very spiritual person.  Her cancer was in remission and she began to get better.  After about a year, I was told that her cancer had came back and she had started treatments again.  This made me very sad to hear this.  One day I was told that she wasn' t doing well and wasn't expected to live.  This was very disappointing news.  We started a prayer chain. They didn't give my friend long to live.  She started doing better for a while and then I received the news she had died.  This was hurtful and mad me very sad.  The death of my childhood friend mad me start living in a different way.  Life is very short, so we have to live it to the fullest.  Do not take anything for granted.  Live life to the fullest and appreciate what is important.
